You’ve seen it on TV, now let’s get it into your kitchen.
Our Poi-fection Bowl isn’t just a go-to meal in our house—it’s a celebration of our favorite Hawaiian-style ingredients like kalo (taro), niu (coconut) and maiʻa (bananas), plus macadamia nuts and honey.
We shared this recipe with none other than Lanai Tabura, the man behind the popular Hawai'i show Cooking Hawaiian Style.
This is the ultimate Hawaiian breakfast that takes the best of our island flavors and blends them into an easy and healthy meal.
But First, Some Backstory…
When we got the call to appear on Cooking Hawaiian Style, we had less than 24 hours to pull everything together. A full farm to manage, a never-ending to-do list, and now we needed to come up with two recipes, gather ingredients, and be ready to roll . . . fast.
But you know what they say—Make it work.
So, I threw the “to-do” list out the window and leaned into a bit of old-school wisdom: KISS. Keep it simple, stupid.
That’s when the magic happened. Instead of stressing over something complicated, we decided to make something that felt natural. Enter the Poi-fection Bowl. Paʻiʻai or poi as the base, then pile on all the good stuff. Simple, delicious, and 100 percent locally sourced.
Here's the Recipe:
Ingredients:
- Paʻiʻai or Poi
- Polipoli Farms Chewy Bananas
- Coconut chips
- Macadamia nuts (Chopped for texture, if desired; Hawaiian Heritage Farms recommended.)
- Honey
Instructions:
- Start with a base layer of paʻiʻai or poi.
- Pile on the Chewy Bananas, coconut chips, macadamia nuts, and drizzle generously with honey.
That’s it. Simple, satisfying, and 100% local.
